Technical Information

93% of Totem Quartz planes is made up of silica, one of the hardest and most resistant (7 MOHS) minerals in nature. Micronized fine-grain silica powder along with a special resin enter the production line on a special schedule and are simultaneously vibrated, vacuumed and pressed to transform to a solid stone. Using this advanced technology transfers the properties of silica directly to the slabs; a stone that will be highly resistant to scratches, abrasion and blows. Since there are no cracks or pores in the product, bacteria may not grow and proliferate on it, especially in wet places; that is why TQ is called anti-bacterial. Another specification of engineered stone is its low weight and high strength. One may make this product even more attractive by adding small pieces of glass, mirror, gems or seashells to make it suitable for any place with any design.

Recent tests by Italian Breton Stone on engineered stones compared to similar products containing toxic, volatile, organic elements, such as Styrene and Btex show that Totem Quartz is free of those toxics which are extremely hazardous to environmental balance.

Cutting :

Totem Quartz stones, like granite or ceramic, can be cut with water jets, port mill or by hand. But because the stone is mainly composed of silica which is a very hard element, the recommended cutting method is with a water jet.
